The multi sensory approach is learner centered. The students
have direct involvement in their learning. Students are active
and not just sitting and listening or watching the teacher.
A multi sensory approach gives a student many opportunities
to learn and practice a skill in a variety of ways, using the
different senses to help the brain retain the information. The
multi sensory approach was developed for children with
learning disabilities but can be used for all learners!
There are so many wonderful cheap tools to use in your classroom that give your students the benefit of multi sensory learning every day whatever the phonological awareness skill you may be teaching. I am including one special activity that I use with my students.
